WEGS 91.7 FM — “We Encourage God’s Servants”
Serving the Florida Panhandle with Faith-Centered Broadcasting Since 1985.
A Vision Born in Faith
In November 1985, Christian broadcaster Randy Henry launched WEGS 91.7 FM with a simple but powerful mission: to encourage believers and proclaim the truth of God’s Word across the airwaves of Northwest Florida.
The call letters — WEGS — stand for “We Encourage God’s Servants.” That phrase has defined the heartbeat of the station for more than four decades. What began as a step of faith has grown into a trusted source of biblical teaching, worship music, and spiritual encouragement for thousands of listeners throughout the Florida Panhandle.
Licensed to Milton, Florida, WEGS broadcasts at 91.7 MHz with 20,000 watts of effective radiated power, reaching Pensacola and surrounding communities along the Gulf Coast.
Ownership & Network
WEGS is owned and operated by Florida Public Radio, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) Christian broadcasting organization dedicated to spreading the Gospel through radio ministry.
Florida Public Radio oversees multiple stations that share a commitment to biblically sound teaching and Christ-centered programming, including:
WPIO (Titusville, FL)
WEJF (Palm Bay, FL)
Together, these stations extend faith-based programming to communities across Florida, while maintaining a local presence in each market they serve.
Programming That Builds Faith
From its earliest days, WEGS has focused on solid Bible teaching and Christ-centered content. The station’s programming lineup has included many nationally respected ministries, such as:
Insight for Living
Grace to You
Thru the Bible
Love Worth Finding
Focus on the Family
Turning Point
In addition to nationally syndicated teaching programs, WEGS features:
Praise and worship music
Hymns and inspirational Christian music
Sunday worship services from local churches
Special seasonal programming
Community announcements and ministry updates
This blend of teaching and music allows listeners to engage with Scripture throughout the day — whether driving to work, at home, or online.
A Ministry Rooted in Community
WEGS has always been more than a radio signal. It is a ministry partnership with the churches and believers of Northwest Florida.
Over the years, the station has:
- Partnered with local congregations
- Broadcast special church services and events
- Provided airtime for ministry outreach
- Connected listeners with Christ-centered resources
Like many broadcasters along the Gulf Coast, WEGS has weathered storms — both literal and figurative — including equipment challenges such as lightning damage that temporarily affected operations in past years. Through faithful listener support and God’s provision, the station has continued to serve without compromising its mission.
In 2025, WEGS celebrated 40 years of broadcasting — a milestone marking decades of consistent Gospel proclamation in the Florida Panhandle.
The Legacy of Randy Henry
The founding vision of Randy Henry continues to guide WEGS today. His commitment to biblically faithful teaching, careful stewardship, and encouragement of believers shaped the station’s culture from the beginning.
Under his leadership, WEGS was built not merely as a radio outlet, but as a ministry tool — one dedicated to strengthening pastors, encouraging families, and proclaiming the Gospel clearly and consistently. That legacy remains evident in the station’s programming choices and unwavering doctrinal foundation.
